Tony Blair today angrily denied that he ever listened to anyone in the run up to
the war with Iraq.
His comments came as former cabinet minister Clare Short claimed in a
newspaper article that the Prime Minister once listened to someone other than
George Bush before deciding to go to war.
—BLAIR: ‘I did not listen.’
Addressing reporters outside 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister said:
“Look, I’ve read those allegations and let me tell you this. I don’t, as a rule,
comment on how my decisions are reached, but I can assure you I acted in full
accordance with what George Bush told me to do. For Clare Short to suggest
otherwise is, quite frankly, ridiculous. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an
urgent Darkness concert to attend.”
