Prince William Asks
To Be Treated 'Just Like Any Other Heir To The Throne'
Prince William has instructed his
university to treat him just like any other
future King of England and not to
give him any special treatment that other
heirs to the throne would not receive.
"You know, really, I'm nothing special,"
he told reporters. "I'm just an ordinary
prince. One really can't emphasise
that enough."
Prince William starts his course
on the History of Art at St. Andrews university
this week and is thought to be keen
to be seen by other students as 'one of the
guys, who also happens to be the
future king.'
But some observers have expressed
doubts as to whether the prince will truly be
'just another student'. Another
St. Andrews undergraduate who was overheard
calling William 'an upper class
ponce' has already been executed for treason,
and a student who used some of the
prince's allocated shelf space in the halls of
residence was subjected to a four
hour interrogation by Special Branch royal
protection officers.
Reports that William has marked all
his food in the communal fridge 'HRH' are
so far unconfirmed.
Local interest in the prince remains
high. Yesterday a crowd of several hundred
onlookers watched the prince drink
a pint of lager in the student union bar and
speculation was mounting that he
may eat a toasted cheese sandwich on his
next visit.
"It's too early to say but I think
it's a distinct possibility," said royal watcher
James Whittaker. "We shall just
have to wait and see."
