Pop Group TLC Sign
Historic Peace Treaty With America's 'Scrub' Community
R 'n' b girl group TLC yesterday
signed a peace agreement with America's
community of scrubs, ending years
of conflict and rivalry.
Scrubs (dependent black men on low/no
income) have been the subject of
ridicule and scorn since 1999 when
TLC released their hard-line manifesto
'No Scrubs'.
The peace deal, brokered by former
US president Jimmy Carter, represents a
significant shift in policy by TLC
and may herald a new era of co-operation.
"We have agreed to tolerate some
scrubs," said singer Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes,
"Although we reiterate our position
that, no, we don't want their numbers and
no, we don't want none of their
time."
The group announced that their long-stated
claim that scrubs "can't get no love
from me" is open to future negotiation,
without making any firm commitments.
The group have also agreed not to
write any more dissy songs about scrubs and
get off their backs for at least
one album.
As part of the agreement, scrub representatives
have pledged to reduce the
number of times they hang out the
passenger side of their best friends' rides.
