Nation Mourns As Victoria
Beckham Kidnap Plot Foiled
Disappointment swept Britain this
week when it emerged that a 5 million pound
plot to kidnap Victoria Beckham
had been foiled by police.
A gang of Albanian criminals had
come tantalisingly close kidnapping Posh Spice
and perhaps permanently ending her
singing career but were thwarted at the last
minute by the inconsiderate actions
of an undercover tabloid reporter.

Still around.
As news of the failed kidnap spread,
television and radio phone-ins around the
UK were swamped with expressions
of sadness from members of the public
who had hoped Posh would be removed
from their TV screens and
newspapers for good.
"Her abduction would have generated
huge public excitement and might even
have boosted the economy" says
Professor John Lister, lecturer in Social
Sciences at Cambridge University.
"It would also have meant no more solo
singles. Really, the benefit to
society would have been incalculable. Now it
appears she is free to release another
album."
He added: "We only wonder at what might have been."
