SPORTS NEWS: Beckham Passes Medical, Fails Theory

David Beckham's £25 million transfer to Real Madrid was in jeopardy today
after it emerged that the player failed the theory part of his examination.

Beckham passed his medical examination, which was broadcast live on Spanish
television, and had been expected to pass the theory test too.

"The test is given to foreign players and is just a formality," said Spanish
football commentator Enrique Morales. "Just a few simple questions. Most
people pass it easily, so we are really wondering what happened."

Real's arch rivals Barcelona have already said they are ready to table a new offer
for the player if the deal falls through.

DEAL OFF?: Beckham yesterday, on being told he had failed his test.

Urbanreflex.com has received a copy of Beckham's test paper and can
exclusively reveal some of it's contents. When asked: "What is the correct
course of action when at the touchline with the ball and with two opposition
players approaching?" Beckham incorrectly answered: "Jump in the air to
avoid the tackle." When asked: "What is the capital of Spain?" Beckham wrote
"Real" instead of Madrid and when asked for the name of the Spanish Prime
Minister, he wrote "Mr. Juan."

His final score, nought out of ten, is written in red ink at the bottom of the
page with the words "idiota estúpido."

Although the original deal to sign Beckham is dependent on him passing all
of Real's stringent examinations, experts believe the club will accept the
player despite his failure.

Our resident soccer expert Frankie Truman said: "David Beckman is one of the
finest soccer stars outside of the USA. It would be silly for Reality Madrid to
reject him because of some stupid test."

Ronaldo was unavailable for comment.
